Cast Iron Cooking & Care at General Store
Chef Jimmy cooks with cast iron nearly every day, was featured in Southern Cast Iron Magazine as the "Traveling Skillet", and was given a Taste50 Award in 2022 from Taste of the South magazine. He is also a member of the "Lodge Squad" with Lodge Cast Iron company.
Smashed roasted potatoes, skillet corn, meat, cole slaw, deviled eggs, Grandmaw's dough rolls, and a pineapple upside down cake will be served!

Under Pressure! Beginner pressure cooking at General Store
Pressure canning (not to be confused with pressure cooking) uses special equipment to process food at higher temps to prevent spoilage. Ms. Hill will guide us through the science behind processing low acidity foods like meats, seafoods, & vegetables. She’ll also explain the safety aspects of using a pressure canner & eliminate the fears of using them. Today’s pressure canners have built-in safety features & will not let you fail! Chicken Cacciatore & seasonal vegetables will be served.

An elderberry syrup workshop! Elderberries are native to Georgia and the syrup makes an excellent addition to one's routine during the winter months. Local community herbalist, Crystal Rhys, and Jenna Prince-Farmer, conduct this class on herbalism with nutrition.
